Sometimes the biggest change in life isn't where we live.
It's how we begin the day.
For more than twenty years, my mornings belonged to someone else.
Getting ready for work.
Preparing school bags.
Making lunchboxes.
Watching the clock. There was always somewhere to be.
When I stopped commuting and began working from home, I realised I had been given something I hadn't had in years.
A quiet morning.
Instead of trying to fill it with more productivity, I started making tea.
I put on a piece of classical music.
I watched the light slowly move across the room.
When I first moved from Hong Kong to the UK, I thought I was bringing my life with me.
Instead, I discovered how heavy my life had become.
Boxes.
Clothes.
Things I had carefully chosen over many years.
I donated much of it.
Not because I wanted less.
Because I wanted room. Room to breathe. Room to notice. Room to understand what I actually loved.
That's when I realised happiness wasn't waiting inside another purchase.
It was already hiding inside the few things that quietly stayed.
Perhaps intentional living isn't about owning less.
Perhaps it's about making room for what never needed replacing.
